ABOUT ME...and YOU

Hey ✌🏾

I’m Roxanne, founder of Rovelia (and the only one on board). Before being a founder, I’m first and foremost a reader.

The book that got me hooked on reading was Divergent by Veronica Roth. Walking out of the theater after seeing the first movie, I was obsessed with the world of the factions, the romance between Tris and Four, and I absolutely had to know what happened next. “Divergent 2” became a weekly Google search, as if the sequel would magically appear. Until the day I discovered there was a book.

I, who hated reading and had always thought that all authors were dead (we listen and we don’t judge - thanks school), said, “No way.” Then I finally gave in and devoured it in one sitting. And then I thought to myself, “Wait, is this what reading is? You can choose your own books? And have a good time while doing it?”

What followed was a period of discovery with The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, The Selection by Kiera Cass, After by Anna Todd, not to mention the romances on Wattpad…

That’s also how I got my little sister into reading, even though she used to hate it. I traded her phone for The Selection because she loved Disney princesses (yes, it’s a dictatorship around here). And she loved it so much that she asked for more.

But very quickly, another problem arose. At the time (because the project, though launched in 2026, had been in the works for years), BookTok was just getting started, and she kept coming across romance recommendations unsuitable for her age (smut). At the same time, searching for romance books was getting more and more complicated because with all the tropes and new releases, it was hard to keep track of everything.

I thought to myself: why isn’t there an app where the book’s age rating is clearly indicated, romances are categorized by themes (today we call them tropes), and where you can really choose based on what you’re in the mood for at the moment—kind of like a matchmaking app but with books? If you like it, you add it to your TBR. If you don’t, you skip it. Unable to find anything that matched this vision for the romance community, Rovelia was born.

The “Ro” stands for “romance,” and ‘velia’ comes from the Latin word “velox,” which means “speed.”

Rovelia is, therefore, a safe space to discover love stories for my sister, me, and you who are reading this.

If this appeals to you, you can already download the app .
